Coronavirus and Village of Bannockburn Operations (3-20 Update)

Coronavirus and Village of Bannockburn Operations (3-20 Update)

On March 20th, Governor of Illinois, JB Pritzker announced a “Stay at Home order”, effective 5pm on Saturday March 21st until April 7th. This means that all non-essential businesses must close. What does this mean for Bannockburn residents? As good members of the community, you should stay at home unless you need to attend to certain activities. It’s OK to go to doctors appointments, grocery stores, drug stores, gas stations and other essential needs. It’s OK to take a walk in the Village, walk your dog, take a bike ride or travel to work if you have an “essential” job.

FAQ’s from Governor JB Pritzker

We ask your help in preventing the spread of the virus by following the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control. You can receive updated information from the new State of Illinois coronavirus information website at coronavirus.illinois.gov.

The Bannockburn Police will continue with their excellent service with full staffing and will respond to all calls. Contact the Police Department for non-emergency needs at 847-945-8490. If you have an emergency, please call 911.

Please be aware that no one from any governmental organization will be going door-to-door conducting COVID-19 surveys, asking questions or soliciting anything. Be cautious downloading any COVID-19 Google Apps on your phone. There are computer viruses attached to some of them.

For other Village inquiries, please utilize the contact us link to submit your questions or requests. Staff is monitoring emails and voicemails and will respond in a timely manner. You can also find Village information on our website at bannockburn.org.
Anyone who suspects they may have been exposed to COVID-19 or are experiencing symptoms of fever, coughing or shortness of breath should contact their doctor before going to the hospital.

As you know everyone is being asked to work from home and many businesses are closed. Restaurants have limited their services to carry out, curb side pickup or drive thru. A list of restaurants (Click Here) in the Bannockburn, Deerfield, and Riverwoods area can be found on the Village website. Thank you to the DBR Chamber for compiling the list.

We make it easy to pay your utility bill online. This would eliminate your need to mail a check or stop by Village hall. We have several options available for you (utility billing options):

  1. Automatic Bill Pay (ACH): You can have the utility bill invoice amount deducted directly from your checking or savings account. Please email your Automatic Bill Pay (ACH) application (Click Here) to Ryan at Rmentkowski@villageofbannockburn.org.
  2. You can perform a one-time credit card payment for your utility bill invoice.
  3. (My personal favorite) You can have the utility bill invoice amount automatically charged to your credit card (with no service fee).
    • You get notified of the amount as the bills go out.
    • Near the due date your credit card gets charged.
    • You get to enjoy the airline miles or hotel points when we are all traveling again.

The following links will walk you thru the credit card payment processes:

  1. For one-time credit card payments (Click Here); and,
  2. For automatic credit card charges, (Click Here).

Thanks for your help in signing up for one of these options.

In this time of great uncertainly, our first priority is the welfare of our residents, staff and police officers. This unprecedented situation has no manual or guidebook. We are all in this together, figuring it out day by day and sometimes hour by hour. Take care of yourself by taking a walk on a path or the nearest forest preserve. Call a parent or friend you haven’t talked to in a while.

Thank you for your understanding during these unusual times. Let me know if you have any questions, comments or suggestions. Welcome to the first day of Spring. Stay Well!

Sincerely,
Bud Rothing
