Please describe the requested records with sufficient detail to enable the Village to identify and locate them.
Response Time
The Village will respond to requests in accordance with the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.
- Non-commercial requests: within five (5) business days after receipt unless the time is lawfully extended.
- Commercial requests: within twenty-one (21) business days after receipt.
If a request is denied or additional time is required, the Village will provide written notice explaining the reason(s). A requester may seek review by the Public Access Counselor of the Illinois Attorney General or pursue judicial review under Section 11 of the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.
Police Body-Worn Camera and Squad Video Requests
Requests for police body-worn camera recordings or squad car video are processed pursuant to FOIA and applicable Illinois law.
Records may be redacted to protect personal privacy, confidential information, ongoing investigations, or other information exempt from disclosure.
Released video recordings may contain a watermark identifying the Village of Bannockburn, the requester’s name, and whether the request was submitted for a commercial or non-commercial purpose. The watermark is for identification and tracking purposes only and does not alter the content of the recording.

Description of the Village
The Village of Bannockburn is a home rule municipality governed by a Village President and Board of Trustees. The Village’s functional subdivisions include Administration, Police, Finance, Building, Public Works and Planning. Additional information regarding each department is available on the Village website.
Organizational Information
The Village of Bannockburn is governed by a Village President and Board of Trustees and provides municipal services through its administrative offices and Police Department.
The Village employs approximately 23 employees, consisting of:
- 17 police officers
- 6 administrative staff

The Village Board is assisted by several advisory bodies established by ordinance, including:
- Plan Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals (PCZBA)
- Architectural Review Commission (ARC)

Requesters are encouraged to review these documents before submitting a FOIA request.
Fees
Fees for copies of public records are assessed in accordance with Section 6 of the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.
- The first 50 pages of black-and-white, letter- or legal-sized copies are provided at no charge.
- Additional black-and-white copies are $0.15 per page.
- Charges for color copies, oversized documents, electronic media, or other formats will not exceed the actual cost of reproduction.
- When feasible, records maintained electronically will be provided in electronic format.
- Fees may be waived or reduced when disclosure of the requested records is determined to be in the public interest as provided by the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.
FOIA Rules
The Village’s Rules and Regulations for Implementation of the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, including applicable fee schedules and request procedures, are available from the Freedom of Information Officer.
