All events are FREE to Bannockburn residents and their guests. RSVP’s are required to attend.

The Bannockburn School, the Bannockburn Garden Club and the Village of Bannockburn celebrates Arbor Day each year by planting a new tree as part of our Arbor Day Celebration.

Join the Village of Bannockburn, SWALCO and the Bannockburn Garden and Social Arts Club to celebrate International Compost Awareness Week on May 9, 2026 from 11 am – 1 pm. Each household can take up to 20 gallons of compost for FREE while supplies last! Shovels provided, but bring your own bucket (or other container).

Staff will share information about Bannockburn’s residential curbside composting program through LRS, the Village’s waste hauler. Residents who pledge to compost will receive a free kitchen pail, courtesy of SWALCO, to help start their composting journey (while supplies last). Additionally, the Village and the Bannockburn Garden Club will distribute a limited quantity of free milkweed plants to Bannockburn residents while supplies last.

Join the Village for a FREE moving showing at the Open Space Shelter behind Village Hall! Bring your own chairs, snacks and blankets for a movie under the stars. More details will be provided soon!

Bannockburn residents may place an unlimited amount of bulk-items curbside (up to 50 pounds) and white goods for collection at no additional cost. All goods must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on the date of the event and must be a size manageable for one person to lift. No registration required. Join the Bannockburn Police Department for a fun-filled day celebrating safety, community and everything in between on June 27, 2026 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Bannockburn Green Shopping Center! Come meet your local police officers and firefighters, check out the awesome emergency vehicles and snap some pics with the heroes who keep you safe! Child safety seat inspections are also available from 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Other activities include:

The Village of Bannockburn, in partnership with SWALCO and the Village of Deerfield, is hosting a Reuse and Recycle event.

This is a free event for household items only–only items listed on the flyer will be accepted. Collected items will be reused, recycled, and donated. We’ll unload–you can drive through and go! Additionally, confidential document shredding will take place, and food pantry donations will be collected.

Join your friends and neighbors for a day of food, refreshments, entertainment, conversation and fun.

Bannockburn Trick or Treaters of all ages are invited to wear their Halloween costumes and take a walk through the Village of Bannockburn “Haunted Trail” from 4:30 – 5:30 pm. Treats will be handed out to the children along the trail. Parking will be available at: Bannockburn School and Bannockburn Village Hall.

Bannockburn residents can enjoy a horse drawn wagon that will travel through the streets of Bannockburn.
