As part of this project, the Village of Bannockburn was awarded a $25,000 grant to remove invasive species, including buckthorn, along the Wilmot Road right-of-way. This effort will allow the Village to construct the proposed path along Wilmot Road shortly after the invasive species removal, including buckthorn, benefiting the community and improving the overall aesthetics and health of the area. Impacted residents received a letter with additional information (click here for the letter mailed to residents). For the full press release regarding the generous Grant from the Urban and Community Forestry Programs of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and USDA Forest Service Eastern Region, PLEASE CLICK HERE. [The grant funds are administered by The Morton Arboretum’s Chicago Region Trees Initiative (CRTI)]
If the weather cooperates, the pathway is scheduled to be completed by Fall 2025.
If you have any questions or would like more information about the project, we encourage you to stop by Village Hall during normal business hours or contact the Village office at 847-945-6080.
