Illinois Passenger Rail Proposed Improvements – Extension for Comments

The Illinois Department of Transportation, together with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the Federal Railroad Administration, in partnership with Amtrak, conducted an Environmental Assessment (EA) for proposed improvements that would increase the frequency of round trips from seven to ten per day on Amtrak’s Hiawatha passenger rail service between Chicago and Milwaukee.  The EA can be found at the following link: Chicago-Milwaukee Intercity Passenger Rail Service EA was out for review and public comment from October 6, 2016 to November 15, 2016, and the official comment period was  extended to January 15, 2017.  Comment Period Extended for Environmental Assessment


November 2016 – The Village of Bannockburn passed a Resolution requesting additional review time by all of the parties.

May 18, 2018 – The Village of Bannockburn received a letter from Metra related to Comments on the Chicago-Milwaukee Hiawatha Corridor Environmental Assessment (EA).  A copy of this letter can be found HERE.
