Bannockburn residents please take note of the weather situation for tomorrow (Wednesday 4/18)! Can’t wait for summer to get here!Wednesday will see precipitation move into northern Illinois. Some of this will likely be sleet, especially north of I-88. During the early-mid afternoon, a mix with rain or drizzle, or even just rain or drizzle is expected. Then as temperatures drop, precipitation will change to snow later in the afternoon into the evening. For the late day commute time in Rockford, snow is presently expected. Minor accumulations are likely on grass and possible on roads going into Wednesday evening.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for far northern Illinois.

Winter Storm Warning is in effect this evening through tomorrow! Please be safe!A few flurries are possible early in the day but the main story is a winter storm that will impact the region beginning late this afternoon or early evening and continue well into the day Friday. Expect heaviest snowfall to occur just north of the I-80 corridor up to the Wisconsin state line where 6-10 inches will be possible, along with some localized amounts over a foot. Snowfall will be heavy at times overnight into Friday morning with rates topping 1 inch per hour. Snow should be just beginning during the Thursday evening commute, but there will be significant impacts to the Friday morning commute, and snow will likely affect the Friday evening commute as well. Confidence in the snow amounts along the I-80 corridor and areas south remains low as there will likely be a sharp cut-off in amounts. A slight southward shift in the system may require additional headlines in farther south, so stay tuned to forecast updates throughout the day. ... See MoreSee Less
